Robert Berkenblit, MD, FACR, is Associate Medical Director at the Montefiore Imaging Center and Associate Professor of Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since joining the Montefiore team in 1996, his clinical interests include utilizing CT scans, ultrasound, and MRIs to evaluate the abdomen and pelvis, particularly the genitourinary system and the adrenal glands. He also has a special interest in utilizing an open MRI system to evaluate the abdomen and pelvis.

In 1986, Dr. Berkenblit received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at SUNY at Albany. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1990. Dr. Berkenblit began his postgraduate training in 1990 with a year-long internship in Medicine at Westchester County Medical Center. He then came to Montefiore and completed a residency in Radiology in 1995, becoming Chief Resident in 1994. His postgraduate training was completed in 1996 with a fellowship in Body Imaging at Georgetown University Medical Center.

With experience in clinical imaging, Dr. Berkenblit uses that knowledge in his research on optimizing imaging modalities to evaluate the genitourinary system and the adrenal glands. His work on imaging has been published in a number of papers, abstracts, and has been presented nationally and internationally.

Dr. Berkenblit received first prize for a poster at the European Society of Urogenital Radiology for his work “Imaging Features of Intra-abdominal Causes of Hirsutism.” He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of numerous professional societies including the American College of Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
